International Forest Day 2022.03.21
International Forest day programme was held on March 21st in 2022 with the presence of minister of wildlife and forest Resources conservation Hon. C. B. Rathnayake with the participation of State Minister of, Development of Minor Crops including Sugarcane, Maize, Cashew, Pepper, Cinnamon, Cloves, Betel Related Industries and Export Promotion, Hon.Janaka Wakkumbura at Sinharaja Kudawa Conservation Center.
The Secretary of the Ministry, Mr.Somarathne Vidanapathirana and officials of the Ministry, Conservator General of Forest Dr.K.H.A. Bandara, Rathnapura District secretary, Mrs.Malani Lokupothagama and officials, teachers and students of the area participated to this programme.In the occasion, renovated education, research and ecological center was opened to visitors along with renovated pathway to the place from Wathurawa. In addition Cane (Wewel), False Calumba (Weniwel) and Brindleberry (Goraka) were planted as under growth of Monerakekilla Plantation and invasive plant ClidemiaHirtawas removed. Further, gifts and certificates were handed over to the winners of the art exhibition on the environment.
