World Wildlife Day 2022

Inline with the commoration of World Wildlife Day price and certificate giving of the Art Exhibition that was conducted through ‘Vanadiwiya’ newspaper supplementary, for the years 2020 & 2021 was held at the lake house premises on 3rd March 2022 with the participation of Hon. Minister C. B. Rathnayake as the chief guest.
At the occasion, junior and senior students, under and above six year categories received their price and certificates as the winners of the monthly art competition.
Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Somaratne Vidanapathirana, secretary of the state Ministry Major General Palitha Fernando, chairman and general manager of the lake house – president councellor, Attorney at law Mr. W. Dayaratne, Lake house director Mr. Dharma Sri Kariyawasam, Lake house finance director Mr. Janaka Ranathunga, Lake house manager (acting) Mr. Sumith Kothalawala, Lake house government relation department chief editor Mr. Samantha Karunasekara, Additional secretaries of the ministry, Director generals, of the department of wildlife conservation & national zoological gardens, General Manager of the State Timber Corporation, A Conservator of forest, Deputy Director of National zoological gardens and many other invited guests participated the event.

Sponsors of the art competition, promotional manager of the Atlas company, Ms. Iroshani Nadeeka, senior promotional & activities manager of CBC company Mr. Sisira Gunawardhana, manager of the Kothmale milk production company Mr. Lanka Balasooriya also attended event.
Mr. Manjula Amararatne Director (protected area management) of Department of Wildlife Conservation had done a presentation on importance of world wildlife day.
Winners of the competition were handed over a plant to plant in their home gardens, introducing green lanka project, ‘one person – one plant’ which has been launched by the ministry.
